About us

Hi, I'm Di Ellor and I live in Baddeley Green, Stoke-on-Trent
I am a qualified Canine Behaviourist having gained certificates in Dog Psychology and The Advanced Course Certificate in Dog Aggression.
I have always been a big dog lover and find them to be a great companion and soul mate. If you have a good bond with your dog you'll know where I'm coming from and you can't beat it!
I acquired an 18 mth old German Shepherd, Flint, through my job and we bonded immediately but he came with a hidden problem, he was very aggressive towards other dogs.
This was my first taste of dog behavioural problems but after a lot of hard work and help from my friends who had dogs, I could eventually walk past other dogs with no problems. I increasingly became interested in behavioural problems especially so when I took on another problem dog, Bertie. My beloved Black Labrador.

I took on Bertie when he was 6 mths old and he came with a lot of hang ups. Then unfortunately when he was 12 mths old he was bitten on a couple of occassions and I'm afraid to say that he went from a happy-go-lucky dog to showing signs of aggression towards other dogs. This was mainly fear based aggression but again with hard work, time and TLC we have slowly worked through these problems but now I have to practice what I preach as the saying goes.

My work
When I passed my Dog Psychology course I started to do voluntary work at Moor Dog Training's classes which is owned and run by my good friend Wendy who I met in 2000 whilst training our own dogs together.
I attend Wendy's Training sessions and help owners with their dogs problems on a one to one basis, i.e lead biting etc. I am also on hand to answer any behavioural questions that people may have.

Some dogs will not be able to attend a class training session either because of their behavioural problems or because they find a class enviroment too distressing. For these reasons I can see you and your dog on a one to one basis.

I do home visits where the owner relays the problems they are experiencing with their dog and I can also assess the dog for myself. Every dog is different and what works for one doesn't always work for another for this reason the methods suggested may need to be tweaked to suit your dog.

I think owners also find it a comfort when I can relate to their fears and frustrations having had several problem dogs myself.

I'm an honest up-front person who believes in being straight with the owners from the word go.
There is no quick fix for a lot of dog problems and the owners must be prepared to put in the work in order to reap the rewards. In certain cases the problem will never go away and it will be a matter of not only controlling the dog but the whole situation around them.

Aggression Problems

A lot of cases will involve some form of aggression. There are many reasons why a dog shows aggression and each case has to be assessed individually as there may be many factors causing their behaviour.

Wendy and I realised that there are a lot of people with dogs out there that need our help and advice with problems and this is one of our ambitions and the reason for us offering this joint service in training and behavioural work.
